SERVICE & CARE

The value of jewelry is not the moment you buy it, but how long it stays with you.
Pearl Care

Can I wear my pearl jewelry while showering, swimming, or visiting a spa?

Absolutely not. Pearls are organic gemstones primarily composed of calcium carbonate, making them extremely sensitive to environmental factors. Tap water contains chlorine, and spas are rich in sulfur; both chemicals will erode the pearl's surface, causing it to lose its luster (often referred to as "yellowing" or "clouding"). Furthermore, exposure to water and steam can cause the silk or nylon thread inside to mildew, rot, and eventually snap.

Golden Rule: Always remove your pearls before any contact with water, sweat, or steam.

Why have my pearls lost their shine over time? How should I clean them?

Pearls have microscopic pores on their surface that absorb natural body oils, sweat, perfume, and cosmetics, which gradually dulls their natural radiance. Therefore, always apply your makeup and perfume before putting on your pearls. GIA recommends the following two methods based on your cleaning needs:

Routine Care: For routine care, it's best to wipe cultured pearls with a very soft, clean cloth after each wearing to remove perspiration and oils.

Occasional Thorough Cleaning: It's safe to use warm, soapy water for occasional, thorough cleaning. If the pearls are strung, be sure the string is completely dry before wearing.

How should I store my pearls? Can I keep them with my diamond or gold jewelry?

Pearls are relatively soft. They can be easily scratched by harder metals and gemstones like gold, platinum, and diamonds.

Storage Tips: Always store your pearl pieces individually in the complimentary jewelry pouch provided with your purchase, or in a separate compartment of a lined jewelry box.

Environment Matters: Pearls contain a small amount of water. Do not store them in airtight plastic bags or safe-deposit boxes for long periods, as a lack of humidity can cause them to dehydrate and crack. Keep them away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Are pearls sensitive to heat or intense sunlight?

Yes, high heat and intense light can damage pearls.

The Danger of High Heat: High heat can burn cultured pearls or cause discoloration, splitting, or cracking.

The Danger of Intense Light: While pearl is generally stable to light, heat from intense light can cause dehydration and cracked nacre (the pearl's outer layer).

Can pearls be cleaned in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner?

Absolutely not.Pearls should never be cleaned in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner. These methods can cause immediate and irreversible physical damage to the delicate pearls.

K-Gold Care (18K & 14K Gold)

Do 18K and 14K gold jewelry fade or tarnish?

Our jewelry is made with carefully selected materials such as 14K gold-plated sterling silver, 18K gold-plated sterling silver, sterling silver, and selected copper-based pieces, depending on the design.Gold-plated jewelry has a layer of gold over a base metal. With daily wear, friction, sweat, perfume, lotions, water, or improper storage, the plating may gradually soften, fade, or appear less shiny over time. This is a normal part of wearing plated jewelry, not a defect.Sterling silver may naturally oxidize or tarnish when exposed to air, moisture, or chemicals. This can usually be improved with a soft polishing cloth. To keep your jewelry looking its best, avoid wearing it while showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping. Apply perfume and lotions before putting on your jewelry, and store each piece separately in a dry pouch or jewelry box.

What is the best way to clean and maintain K-gold jewelry daily?

While K-gold is highly durable, it still requires regular care to maintain its brilliant luster:

Chemical Avoidance: Always remove your K-gold pieces before doing household chores, exercising, swimming, or applying perfume and hairspray. Chemicals like chlorine and bleach can permanently discolor or weaken gold alloys.

At-Home Cleaning: Soak your K-gold jewelry in a bowl of warm water mixed with a few drops of mild, ammonia-free dish soap for 10-15 minutes. Gently brush away dirt using an ultra-soft baby toothbrush, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.

Are there any specific maintenance tips for different types of jewelry, such as rings, necklaces, and earrings?

Yes, different types of jewelry require different maintenance techniques:

Rings: Rings are worn on the hands, so they are more prone to wear. Clean rings on a regular basis and check for any indication of warping or stone looseness.

Necklaces: Chains can stretch or break if caught on something. Always secure them tightly and carefully untangle them.

Earrings: Delicate earring types must be cleaned regularly and inspected for secure backs to prevent accidental loss.

Silver Care

Why do my sterling silver jewelry and earrings turn black or yellow? Is it a quality issue?

No, this is not a quality defect; it is a natural chemical characteristic of silver. Sterling silver naturally reacts with sulfur compounds present in the air,and human sweat, creating a dark layer of silver sulfide—a process known as tarnishing. Factors like high humidity, air pollution, hot springs, or individual body chemistry can accelerate this tarnishing process.

My silver earrings have been tarnished. How can I bring back their original sparkle?

You can easily restore your silver pieces using the following methods:

Silver Polishing Cloth: Gently rub the tarnished areas with a professional silver polishing cloth. Note: These cloths are treated with special cleaning agents, so never wash the cloth, even if it turns completely black from use.

Liquid Silver Cleaner: For severely tarnished all-silver pieces, dip them into a liquid silver cleaner for 5–10 seconds (never leave them in too long), rinse immediately with plenty of running water, and dry thoroughly.

Crucial Exception: If your silver earrings feature pearls, delicate gemstones, or have an intentional vintage/oxidized finish, never use liquid silver cleaner, as it will permanently destroy the gemstones and strip away the antique detailing.

What should I keep in mind specifically for silver stud earrings?

Earrings require extra hygiene care since they are in direct contact with the skin:

Sanitization: Before your first wear or after storing them for a while, gently wipe the earring posts with a medical alcohol prep pad to disinfect them.

Keep Ear Piercings Dry: Avoid wearing silver studs while showering or swimming. Trapped moisture around the ear piercing can cause skin irritation or infections, and will rapidly accelerate the tarnishing of the silver post.

Elastic Bracelet Care

Can I wear my elastic stretch bracelets in the shower or during workouts?

We strongly advise against it. The elastic cords used in stretch bracelets are made of multiple fine strands of latex or silicone covered in nylon. Exposure to hot water, body washes, shampoos, and sweat will rapidly degrade the elastic material, making it brittle, dry, and prone to sudden snapping.

Why does my elastic bracelet feel looser after a while? How do I extend its lifespan?

Elastic cord is a consumable material. Over time, daily stretching, friction, and exposure to the elements will naturally cause it to lose some of its elasticity.

The Right Way to Wear: Never aggressively yank or pull the bracelet to stretch it over your hand. Instead, gently roll the beads over your fingers and onto your wrist.

Periodic Restringing: To prevent the cord from snapping unexpectedly and losing your precious beads or pearls, we recommend having your elastic bracelets re-strung every 6 to 12 months, depending on how often you wear them.
